Laika is a work of historical fiction that chronicles Russia's achievement of putting the first animal in space. That first animal is a dog named Laika. The story unfolds from the perspectives of Sergey Korolyov (Chief Engineer for Sputnik 2), Yelena Dubrovsky (the dog trainer for the program), and Laika herself.
